Useful Tips For Maximising A Website Development With Appropriate KEYWORDs

By rlhutton On January 8, 2010 Under Search Engine Optimization

The Internet is a place where anyone can find information on just about any subject. If you want any one or two of these billions of people to find you there, giving them what they desire is the key. You must use keywords within your Web content to achieve this.

What are Keywords?

You will find this word used a lot within the web. To search for information in our cyber world, people regularly use keywords. Not every word can be classified as a keyword. Some words like “the,” “of,” and others are too common and are usually excluded from search results. Only the main words are used in the search parameters.

Results are returned to the searcher based on the words entered into the box. Usually the results are in the millions but no one is going to look at all of those entries. Unless you are featured prominently on the first page, you may as well be entry number 1,000,001.

Use Your Content.

We are starting to learn about spiders and robots. They are difficult to understand, but they perform a great service for your business website development. They crawl your articles, headlines, picture tags and unique pages for the words that searchers enter. When they find them, you will be ranked for the appropriate words.

Is that all? Of course it’s not. We left out that the number of times the word appears (keyword density) is highly important. These robots want to know how many times a certain word is used and use the findings to work out how your content compares to other sites featuring the same words.

The hang-up is going to be finding those words. And, for each topic of interest, there are an untold number of words that can be entered alone or in the form of a phrase.

But, what you have to remember is that without the keywords, it will be next to impossible to reach your target market. Some use the “net casting” approach and try to appeal to everyone using generic wording in their articles and advertisements. This would be a waste of money as you would just attract a large number of uninterested or un-targeted visitors.

By appropriate selection of keywords, you will narrow your field to those who are likely to be interested in your service or product. You will need to know what return you are getting, so must test keywords to see how effective they are. You will be starting off in the right direction, at least.

Once you have your keyword phrases, though, you could also create a unique page within your website development for each keyword phrase. On the home page, include links to each page using that keyword phrase. You will get credit for the phrase appearing on the home page too. Within your overall content, use keyword phrases appropriately and definitely include within the anchor text, attached to a link to the appropriate page on your website development.

Bear in mind that keyword phrases are equally as powerful as individual keywords. Use them throughout your website to improve your search engine ranking.
