Is Your Public Relations Firm Checking Into The Future Of Your Business?

By rlhutton On January 26, 2010 Under Monetization Strategies

Marketing Public Relations: Marketing and public relations go hand in hand to help reach the public. Both parties are involved in helping a business or an individual be exposed to the public eye. Both departments are equally important and the relationship is an ongoing process that is interchangeable. They share the main goal, which is to reach the public by all means necessary.

The marketing department of a company usually handles matters such as advertising. Advertising is usually done through word of mouth, cold calling, or media venues such as print advertisements, infomercials and so on. Constant marketing and never being away from sight is vital in surviving.

And it is important for people to know about your offers. How will people know about your products or services if they never hear about it? That is where marketing comes in. Marketing managers plan and organize ideas to promote business. They often work with public relation specialists to collaborate in doing so. It is important to know who the audience is and who the competition is.

The public relations department keeps in touch with the public. Your company’s public image will be created through them. They can make or break you. If you are a new owner of a restaurant that just opened in town, consider hiring a PR specialist to find ways to gain “publicity”. Together with their marketing team, they will find the best solution for you.

They will be constantly doing research to keep up with the latest info on everything. It is extremely important to be knowledgeable on every aspect. Know the competition, know who the target audience is, know the latest trends, etc. Together, the marketing team and public relations department will work together to promote and publicize your business. And let’s not forget how important marketing and publicity is for reaching the target demographic.

Marketing folks and PR specialists usually work for media venues such as television, print media, online media, and radio. They will work with you and help you reach the target audience through those venues. They should have a long running clientele base with a high level of networking stability.

Let’s say that you are working for a sports magazine. Your position is a marketing manager. As a marketing manager, you will be working closely with a PR specialist to help promote a company’s business. Your job will be to handle how their ad dollars will be spent. This may be through print advertisements. The public relations specialist may help with providing articles, knowing how to properly construct an effective marketing article that will draw in attention from the target audience, among other things. Decisions will be made to determine how the dollars will be spent to effectively reach the public.

Also, the Miami PR people may refer a golf course to you. It is their job to ensure the right publicity. They may go to your magazine for additional help. Maybe an article along with print advertisements is what they need. The golf course will then decide that they would like to spend a little more money to advance their exposure. If marketing public relations decide to work with you, they will pay for not only the print ads but for your services as well. You will be able to help with reaching the readers in your network.
