Marketing Public Relations: Marketing and public relations go hand in hand to help reach the public. Both parties are involved in helping a business or an individual be exposed to the public eye. Both departments are equally important and the relationship is an ongoing process that is interchangeable. They share the main goal, which is to reach the public by all means necessary.

The marketing department often handles the money matters. They determine how marketing dollars will be spent. Whether they are through publicity stunts, advertisements, or word of mouth, etc, the marketing department will handle it, usually. The publicity stunts are handled by public relations. They are the ones to talk to the press, create amusing data, and so on. They may be involved or not involved at all with the whole marketing process.

Never stop being in the public eye. The moment you disappear, you will be erased from the minds of people. And if you have new offers, let the people know. How are people going to know without being told about it? By working side by side, the marketing team and public relations team will work together closely to plan out the strategies to promote and effectively publicize what it is that is being reached to the public.

Public relation specialists keep in touch with the target demographic. The reputation and public image is highly depended on the work of the public relations people. They know who to talk to and how to promote your or your businesses image to the public. They are basically responsible for the “publicity” part.

Constant research is needed to keep up with the latest trends and the public’s needs and evolvement. Talking to people, conducting surveys, and keeping up with the latest demands are all things that need to be aware of. Ideally, the marketing department handles the monetary matters. They are the ones to decide how to spend the marketing dollars. Often times, the “public” may go through public relations. Ideas or concerns may be expressed and it is an interactive process.

Marketing managers and PR specialists usually find work in dealing with newspapers, magazines, radio, television, etc. They may deal with the press, making public speeches, so good communication skills are very important. It is equally important in working with each other to exchange all the vital info to successfully help promote your business.

If you are working for a local sports magazine in the marketing department, you will often times, be working side by side with a public relations specialist. If you have clients that would like to go into a professional sport, “publicity” is important. The PR people handle the publicity part. Your job will be to handle how the dollars will be spent in the promoting process.

Sports specialty stores in need of promotion might go to your magazine for assistance with reaching the public. Since you have a strong client base amongst your readers, you will be able to help with networking and marketing while working with public relations person to gain valuable assistance. A charge is often placed for print advertisements, but other things come along with it. The main goal for both the Miami PR department is to reach the public.
